Call for Sites

The Parish Council has been advised to make a “call for sites” as part of the neighbourhood planning process.

The documents found <here> explain why the call for sites has been made, sets out the background, and give details of how landowners and others can suggest sites which may be suitable for development in the parish over the next 20 years.

All existing sites will be assessed, together with any others which may come forward, to ensure that the most appropriate sites are included in the emerging Neighbourhood Plan for the benefit of Slaugham Parish and its residents.

Handcross Fun Day, Saturday 4th July

There will be a SPC NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN stand at the Handcross Fun Day on Saturday 4th July from 12:00 to 16:00.  Please come and have a chat about our progressing plan and found out 'where we are at' and 'what happens next'

Slaugham Parish NHP Housing Numbers Agreed

We have made the final revisions of the 'Slaugham Parish NHP Housing Numbers'  document we can therefore use this as a basis for the numbers in our Plan, site selection etc.

At the last Committee meeting we agreed that our main housing requirement was in the 200 - 220 range over the next 20 years.

Neighbourhood Plan update at the Parish Council’s Annual Parish Meeting.

Following the various committee reports that form the bulk of the Parish Council AGM, there was a talk given on the Community Land Trust and the Neighbourhood Plan.

This talk outlined a brief history of Slaugham Parish's NHP, to date, as well as explaining what was currently happening and what the next steps would be.

UPDATE April 2015

Good News!  The Slaugham Parish Council Neighbourhood Plan (NHP) ‘Scoping Report’ which sets out the basic background for the Neighbourhood Plan, has now been considered by Mid Sussex District Council (MSDC) Statutory Consultees, and no concerns were raised. This means that the first stage in the process has been completed.

In order to continue to get the information about the NHP out to as many local residents as possible in all 4 villages, a NHP “Communication Group” has been formed to discuss and plan a communication strategy. This group aims to pass updates and relevant information in many ways, including:

•  A NEW, user friendly NHP Website – go to www.spcnhp.blogspot.com  and take a look!
•  Facebook and Twitter! – sign up via the website to receive updates as they are released
•  Email messages via local village Community Groups
•  Articles in the local papers
•  Banners, posters and exhibitions

The dates for the next NHP Committee meetings, which are held at The Pavillion, Handcross at 7:30pm are 5th May 2015 and 1^st June 2015.  Members of the public are encouraged to attend.

Latest NHP Update

Work continues on the Neighbourhood Plan, as it does in parishes across Mid Sussex. Cuckfield's residents have voted for their NHP, which now forms part of planning law affecting their parish, and Hurstpierpoint & Sayer's Common's NHP went to referendum on 12th February 2015.

The residents of  Hurstpierpoint & Sayer's Common voted 92.4% in favour of their plan, with a turn out of 42%, which means that their NHP will now become the formal planning guidance for the Parish.

Once the Slaugham Parish Council NHP Committee have completed the early, necessary statutory work on the Scoping Report and Sustainability Appraisal, we will be consulting everyone on the policies, plans and aims - the vision for the parish in the future - that should be in our revised NHP.

Update January 2015

Work continues on our Parish Neighbourhood Plan; there was a meeting of the NHP Committee on 1^st December and the first of 2015 took place on 5^th January.

The committee is now back to full strength with a total of 14 volunteers from the Parish as follows: 6 representing Handcross, 4 representing Pease Pottage and 2 each from Slaugham and Warninglid.

A meeting took place in December with MSDC regarding the work that has taken place so far on the Scoping Report for the Sustainability Appraisal, and we are pleased that this stage of the Plan has been reported as positive and near to completion.

The dates for the next NHP Committee meetings, which are held at The Pavillion, Handcross at 7:30pm are 2^nd February 2015 and 2^nd March 2015.  Members of the public are always welcome to attend.
